Dr. Babak Moeinolmolki, MD, FACS—affectionately known to his patients as Dr. Moein—is among a select group of surgeons worldwide with dual fellowship training in cosmetic aesthetic surgery and minimally invasive body contouring. Remarkably, he is the only surgeon in Southern California with this rare and powerful combination of expertise.
This unique background allows Dr. Moein to provide patients with a distinct advantage during consultations and surgical planning, offering a tailored approach that blends artistic precision with advanced, less invasive techniques. His methods not only enhance aesthetic outcomes but also help patients make informed choices—balancing immediate cosmetic goals with the long-term preservation of their results.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Moein is a proud graduate of Calabasas High School. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from UCLA, graduating with honors through the College Honors Program. During his time at UCLA, he was also recognized for his dedication to patient care with a Service Excellence Award for his volunteer work at the UCLA Medical Center.
Driven by a deep interest in minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Moein completed a fellowship in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Montefiore Medical Center in New York. He went on to serve as an attending surgeon at Greater Baltimore Medical Center for eight years, where he performed over 2,000 minimally invasive surgeries. It was during this time that he developed a comprehensive program tailored to the aesthetic needs of post-weight-loss patients—one of the first of its kind in the nation.
With a passion for balance, beauty, and surgical artistry, Dr. Moein pursued a second fellowship in cosmetic surgery, during which he completed over 1,400 advanced cosmetic procedures. He trained under the legendary Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, former president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, further refining his aesthetic eye and surgical expertise.
More than just a surgeon, Dr. Moein is an artist at heart. A skilled photographer with a sharp eye for proportion and form, he brings a unique perspective to every procedure. His ability to listen, understand each patient’s vision, and prioritize safety alongside aesthetic excellence defines his approach.
With his exceptional training, artistic sensibility, and unwavering commitment to patient care, Dr. Moein offers an unmatched level of skill and compassion—helping patients achieve natural, beautiful results they can feel confident in.

The terms “plastic surgery” and “cosmetic surgery” are often used interchangeably, but they refer to two distinct medical specialties with different goals and training.
Plastic surgery is primarily focused on reconstructive procedures—repairing facial and body defects caused by congenital conditions, trauma, illness, or surgery. Common examples include cleft lip and palate repair, burn reconstruction, and breast reconstruction following mastectomy. The aim is to restore both form and function.
In contrast, cosmetic surgery is entirely focused on enhancing appearance. These procedures are elective and performed to improve aesthetic appeal, symmetry, and proportion. Cosmetic surgery can be performed on the face, neck, and body, with examples including facelifts, tummy tucks, breast augmentation, buttock enhancement, and gynecomastia surgery for men.
In simpler terms:
👉 Plastic surgery corrects physical abnormalities.
👉 Cosmetic surgery enhances natural beauty and appearance.
Both fields require extensive training, but the objectives and patient goals are what truly set them apart.
