You can expect to experience normal bruising and swelling following the procedure. We recommend your diet to be limited to liquids the day after, then ease into softer foods for the next 3 days or so, depending on how you are feeling. Fat grafting is an option that can be used to augment and reshape the chin. This approach is ideal for patients who are looking for long-term results but without more invasive surgery. Excess fat is harvested through liposuction from areas of the body such as the hips and abdomen. The fat will then be grafted and inserted to help sculpt the size and shape of your chin to the patient's desired look. Patients can expect bruising from the insertion point around the chin. Patients may also experience some discomfort and soreness from the areas of liposuction. Physical activity and exertion should be limited for at least 1 week to allow for healing post-liposuction.

Injectable fillers are the shortest-term solution of these chin augmentation options but also the quickest. Fillers are a temporary enhancement that can add volume and change the shape of your chin. Results for chin augmentation using injectable fillers can last around 4 to 6 months. This treatment option is best for patients not willing to commit to permanent changes or undergo surgery. Patients can resume their regular activities immediately following this treatment, but can minor bruising may last up to a week. Results should be visible within the week of the procedure once the bruising subsides.
